Ulu Yam Bharu Old Folks Home Project

Dec 11, 2011 - Visiting Ulu Yam Bharu Old Folks Home today with a team of 16 Lions members, 19 friends of Lions led by Organizing Chairman Lion Gary Siow and Lion Derek Tey. The project was successfully carried out and we managed to raise about Rm5 thousand worth of donations in cash and in kind. However, no cash was givn to the home but the delivery of food supplies and clothing as per the Home request. These definitely benefited the 70 plus inmates there for their daily need. Also, a simple Chinese New Year decoration was done at their dining hall to create a little Chinese New Year atmophere. Many thanks to the organizing committee, the Lions members and friends of Lions who support and contributed to the success of the project. The following photos were taken during the project:

4-in-1 Blood Donation and Health Screening Project at See Hoy Chan Plaza, Kuala Lumpur

Dec 8, 2011 - A 4-in-1 Blood Donation and Health Screening project was held at the See Hoy Chan Plaza today (9am - 4.30pm). Present were Organizing Chairman Ln Richard Ho and 12 of our clubs members namely President Ken Jern, PP Donald Lee, PP James Andres, PP Raymond Kwong, PP How Pak Kong, PP T.C. Tan Teoh and son, IPP Wesley Er, PDG Sam Leong, Ln Teoh Lee Kwon, Ln Kok Wee Tian, Ln Lee Ching and Ln Jimmy Yong; Lioness Loke Kit Cheng; Leos from SMK Jinjang includes Leo Soh Hoong Liang, Leo Lee Jun Man, Leo Chua Kai Shin, Leo Chua Kai Leng, Leo Chan Kai Ying, Leo Low Tee Yern and Leo Soo Joe Ee; Inviting Lions DC Foo Yaw Chien (Mobile SightFirst) and Zone Chairman Leong Tong; and Friends of Lions include Mr. Johnny, Ms. Leong Lai Peng, Ms. Lilian Khoo, Ms. Lim Cheng Lim, Mr. Sunny Loke (UTS), Ms. Stacy (UTS).

Many thanks to our committee members: Organizing Chairman Richard Ho, President Ken Jern, 1st V.P Tony Yee, Lioness Kit, Lioness Mandy, Stanley, Sunny Loke (UTS) and Richard Tay (Teo Hang Sam) for successfully and smoothly implementing the project. A special thanks to our co-organisers (1)Messrs' UTS Marketing Sdn. Bhd. who has not only contributed atleast 200 human traffic but also donated RM10,000 to our project fund to help more needy people in the future. Co-organiser (2) Messrs' Teo Hang Sam Realty Sdn. Bhd. for sponsoring the spacious venue and also tables & chairs. Not forgeting Lioness Mandy managed to approach her Boss Mr.Alan from Joshua Research Consultants Sdn. Bhd. to sponsor RM500 for our project funds; Also our Health Partners(Sugar level & heart analysis)from Biotask Sdn. Bhd. Mr.Hon (Director) & Mr.Kenny Neo(MD) who hands on performed the HbA1c and hc CRP executive health screening for us; Our 2nd Health Partners (Eyes Check) from International University College of technology Twintech (IUCTT) Prof. Dr. Nasoha Saabin who allows his students lead by Mr.Nigel Lai and 8 students & 1 Lecturer (total 10 people); Lastly, we have Pusat Darah Negara (PDN) who had sent 2 doctors and 15 nurses to carry the blood donation drive

Blood Donation 172 Registered, only 122 accepted Donors
Health Screening 120 people for HBA1c and 90 people for hs CRP
Organ Pledge 28 pledges ( Lead by Ln Kok Wee Tian and PP Tan Teoh)
Eye Screening 147 people for eyes test

Dec 7, 2011 - Xmas Party for 28 Mynmar Children and 5 teachers was held at the One Stop Cafe at No. 2 Jalan Balam, off Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur today. Participating clubs were Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North, Lions Club of Ampang Lions Club of KL Bukit Kiara, Lions Club of KL South and Lions Club of KL Taman Tun. Joint Xmas Party at the Pediatric Ward of Institut Jantung Negara

Dec 4, 2011 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has jointly organized a Xmas Party at the Pediatric Ward of Institut Jantung Negara today (10am - 12.15pm) with Lions Club of Bukit Kiara, Lions Club of Ampang, Lions Club of Bukit Jalil, Lions Club of KL Host and Lionc Club of KL City. 11 of our club members were present led by Club President Ken Jern and OC PP Donald Lee. Nov 17, 2011 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North have organized a Lions Orientation program: "Knowing the Lions and You" today at the Oversea Restaurant Jaya One PJ (7.30pm -10.30pm) for its club members especially 7 of its new members plus friends of Lions in conjunction with the November Club Social Meeting. The meeting includes the Lions Orientation, member induction, and knowing "YOU". The Peace Poster event was held on the 24 September 2011 at SJK(C) Sungei Way from 8.30am to 12.30pm. The Guests of Honor was YB Lau Weng San, the Headmistress ohf SJK SungaiWay, and many sponsors. However, YB Lau could not attend on that day and asked Councillor Tiong and Mr Ding to support the event on his behalf.

There were in total 63 participants of which 54 participants’ ages between 11 and 13 in the contest group and 9 participants’ ages below 11 in the fun group. We were so happy to see so many talented young artists participation. Among them are the children of our club members. All children were happy toreceive their well-deserved LCKLN certificates and trophies.

The Peace Poster Contest held by other Lions club will continue until 30 October 2011. The District Contest (Finalise) has been tentatively set on 20 November 2011 at Subang Avenue. At the District contest, one drawing will be selected as the National Champion, which will then be submitted to USA for final judging in Jan 2012.

The top 3 winners of the Peace Poster Contest are:

1) Herman Tan Jun Hao, Puay Chai school, 11 year old.

2) Hoh Tae Yiong, SJK(C) Kheon Bin school, 11 year old.

3) Lam Hon Mun, Puay Chai school, 11 year old.

World Stroke Day 2011 at Sau Seng Lam PJ on 15 Oct 2011

Dear fellow Lions,
In conjunction with World Stroke Day 2011, Sau Seng Lam PJ held an array of project activities to increase public awareness and creates public mindset of stroke prevention. This event was held from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm on Saturday, 15th Oct 2011,

In this project, it was attended by:
President Ken Jern, Lion Yap Gris Som, Lion Dr. Ong Hong Hoe, Lion Lalada Apichowut, Late Lion Chong Chin Teck, Lion Tony Yee, Lion Richard Ho, Lion Peter Lek, Lion Raymond Kwong, Lion James Andres, Lion Nicholas Ching and Lion Foo Yaw Cheen.
Leos: 7 from SMK Jinjiang, 2 from KL Unity and 1 from SAS
Optometrists: Mr. SK Chew, Law Lek Hooi and Liew Zheng.
National Resource Transplant Center(NRTC): Mr. Lee Cheng Hoe

Organ Pledge: 15 pax
NRTC volunteer, Mr. Lee Cheng Hoe gave 40 minutes speech over 30 audiences by sharing his personnel experience, as an organ recipient.
He is very gratitude to live additional 15 years, therefore he is on voluntary basis to promote the organ pledge campaign.
According to him, the number of people to sign up organ pledge in any events are not so important, instead he encourage our club to held more campaigns to promote the public awareness of organ transplant.

Eye Screening: 64 pax
Lion Foo Yaw Cheen delivered 2 eye screening devices at 8.50 am. On that day, we managed to eye screen 64 person. Lion James Andreas’s friend Mr. SK Chew (Optometrist) and Tun Hussein Onn Hospital’s 2 volunteers, Law Lek Hooi and Liew Zheng were on SSL premise to give a full support on this event.

Overall, the turnout was not very high, may due to this event held on Saturday.

Last but not least, we would like to pay tribute to late past president Chong Chin Teck, as it was his last project in our lions club. He spent more than 30 years in dedication and sacrifice to Leos movement. In his last project, he managed to fetch 7 Leos from SMK Jinjang, where they help a lot to give additional manpower to serve the community.

The Funeral will be on 22rd October 2011 (Saturday) at 10. am

Trip to Cebu Downtown Lions Club and to celebrate PDG Lion Ricardo Ong's 80th Birthday. (2-4 September 2011)

The recent trip to Cebu, Philippines on the invitation by PDG Lion Ricardo
Ong to jointly celebrate his 80th Birthday and to meet members of our
Sister's Club, Cebu Downtown Lions Club kick off with the participation of
the following members and their families got on well.

Headed by our President Lion Ken Jern, PDG Lion Sam Leong was accompanied by
his lady Lion Molly Leong and the entourage included our Ambassador of Cebu
Downtown LC PP Lion Donald Lee, PP Lion Ben Sng, 1st VP Lion Tony Yee,
together with his Wife Samantha and two daughters Rae Lyz and Rae Rei, newly
inducted members Lion Stanley Chew and his Wife Lion Olivia Oh together with
Lion Gina Kuek from LCKL South.

All members were warmly greeted by members of Cebu Downtown LC upon arrival
and it was great to see old friends coming together once again.

1st day lunch was hosted by President Lucia Go with members of Cebu Downtown
LC at the Grand Convention Centre Restaurant, followed by an evening dinner
party hosted by PDG Ricardo Ong at his home where we were entertained by a
Filipino live band and dance performances.

The highlights of the trip was the celebration of the 80th Birthday of PDG
Lion Ricardo Ong which was a big fanfare and was attended by hundreds of
guest from all over Philippines and else where. Colored mainly in red and
gold, the hall at Hotel Radisson Blu was fill with music, vibrancy with
dance performances, photo shoots and a sumptuous buffet dinner organised by
the family members of PDG Ricardo.

President Ken Jern together with the entourage from LCKL North presented a
Birthday Gift in a form of a 24K Gold Plated "Fuk Lok Sau" Pewter set
engraved with PDG Ricardo Ong's name on it and was well received by the
Birthday Boy.

We were treated to a short city tour the morning before and members were
delighted to see the Fort of San Pedro, Magellan Cross, Taoist Temple at
Beverly Hills as well as to cruise along Carbon Street, the old city place.

The farewell lunch hosted by President Lucia Go and members of Cebu Downtown
LC at the "Taste of Mandarin" Restaurant was a happy affair where PDG Nestor
Chua on behalf of President Lucia Go invited President Ken Jern and PDG Sam
Leong to deliver their speech. President Ken Jern thank our host and took
the opportunity to invite President Lucia Go and members of our Sister's
Club, the Cebu Downtown LC to attend our 40th Anniversary next fiscal year,
whilst PDG Sam Leong gave a short but interesting speech on how both clubs
got together to twin and how our friendship blossom to such a level and
believe Cebu Downtown LC and LCKLN would continue to take this friendship to
greater heights and hopefully in the very near future, we will have a joint
project together.

It was heartfelt to note that the twinning between Cebu Downtown LC and LCKL
North come next year would be our 30th. and in-conjunction with this special
occasion, PDG Nestor Chua has suggested that both our clubs celebrate this
occassion a day before our 40th Anniversary Celebration. It would be great
for both clubs coming together for these two very special occasions and he
trust more, if not all members of Cebu Downtown LC would join us in Kuala
Lumpur and to make it a memorable one for both Sisters Club. President Ken
Jern being the OC for our 40th Anniversary Celebration has promised to bring
this message to our Members upon his return and thank our host President
Lucia Go and Members of Cebu Downtown LC for this fellowship lunch and the
hospitality. All members bid farewell and on behalf of our club, we would
like to take this opportunity to thank PDG Ricardo Ong for the invitation,
PDG Nestor Chua, President Lucia Go and all members of Cebu Downtown LC for
going all the way to make our visit a pleasant and enjoyable one.

23rd “Give Blood, Save Life” Blood Donation Campaign

This annual Blood Donation Campaign was held on the 7th August from 9am to 4pm at Thean Hou Temple. The Campaign was organized by 25 Associations, which included Lions Club District 308B1. The guest of honour for the day was the Deputy Finance Minister - Dato Donald Lim.

For the convenience of the public, the event organisers provided free Taxi service. The campaign was in collaboration with the National Blood Bank, who provided 80 beds, 90 nurses and 9 doctors. Beside the blood donation activity, there were also health screening by Chinese physicians, and Eye-sight screening activities. The total bags of blood collected was 634, which was short of the targeted 800 bags. Therefore, the total bags of blood for our club is 52 bags.

LCKLN was among the 12 Lions Clubs and 7 Leo Clubs which participated this event. We were there from 8.30 am to 4pm. There were 2 teams - the 1st team was there from 8.30 am to 1 pm while the 2nd team was there from 1 pm to 4 pm. We took turns to help to register donors. Some of the members donated blood for this event. There were appreciation gifts (Hampers) for those who have donated their blood 30 times and above.

Visiting China Guangdong Lions Clubs

On 16 Aug, President Ln Ken Jern with new member Lion Daphne Oon met in Guangzhou China and make the official visit to China Guangdong Lions Clubs (D381). China Guangdong Lions Clubs (District D381)consists of 80 clubs and 8800 members within Guangdong Province in Southern China. They were formed in year 2002 with the approval from Government. They have their own building in centre of Guangzhou City.

President Lion Ken & Lion Daphne were hosted by D381 District Governor Lion Mark Xi Ming. President Ken is also exchanging the services render by Lions Club of KL North and our club history. DG Lion Mark also explained on the operations of China Guangdong Lions Clubs and how they operate with 80 clubs and 8800 members. DG also shares with us on how the formation of Lions Club in China.

At the end, President Lion Ken & DG Lion Mark are exchanging the club and District D381 bannerates and DG Lion Mark also present the District badge to Lion Daphne Oon.

Leo Orientation

July 30, 2011 - Our Leo Orientation has just been concluded today at GoldHill Club, Bandar Manjalara, Kepong. The response was overwhelming. Our special guest, Zone 12 Chairman Lion Aishah Ismail and DC for Leo Developement Lion Denny Tee were present as well. Total Leos attended is 56 consisting of Leos from our 3 Leo Clubs namely Leo Club of KL Unity, Leo Club of SMK Jinjang and SMK Sultan Abdul Samad plus 4 other Leo Clubs namely Leo Clu of Kepong, Leo club of Kepong Baru, Leo Club of SMK Datuk Lokman and Leo Club of Bukit Maluri.

Apart from our special guests, the following Lions who were present that day: President Lion Ken Jern, Lion Tony Yee, Lion Wesley Er, Lion Molly Yee, Lion Navin Khandhar, Lion Chong Chin Teck, Lion Tan Teoh Teik Choon, Lion How Pak Kong, Lion James Andres, Lion Ben Sng, Lion Richard Ho and Lion Donald Lee plus Lioness Kit.

The respective facilitators did an excellent job in the various breakout sessions with powerful PowerPoint Presentations not forgetting our Papa Leos, Lion Chong who guided the Leos exceptionally well too. The opening by our President Lion Ken Jern, Lion Tony Yee on the Project & Activities, Overview of Key Officers and the closing Quiz & Q&A was filled with fun & laughters from all quarters.

To conclude, the venue and the food was good with the courtesy and sponsorship of Dato' Robert Lim.

Once again, I would like to thank all the Lions who were there to support this event. More importantly, it is the Leos who has come together and work as a team to make this happen. Thanks everybody!

July 18, 2011 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has got a good media coverage at our Local TV1 News (Berita Nasional) today on the Lions 6-in-1 Crime Prevention and Healthy Living project held on July 17, 2011 at Sri Petaling Hotel.

The 6-in-1 project was led by Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North in collaboration with with the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation, Polis Diraja Malaysia, BOMBA, Yoshinkan Aikido, Professional Locksmith Malaysia, Sau Seng Lum Diabetics, Assunta Hospital, Lions Sight First Mobile Unit, Synapse Sdn Bhd, Seri Petaling Residents Association, our Lioness and Leos to promote and to bring awareness to the community on ways to prevent crime and to adopt healthy living. The event was officiated by our Guest of Honor Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye Thye, accompanied by President Lion Ken Jern together with other VIPs.

Health Talk: Holistic Pain Management Seminar

April 9, 2011 - The Health Talk organized by Messr. Hollista Colltech (Australia) Ltd. with the support and participation of Lions Club of KL North and Therra Keeta went on very smoothly and on schedule. It was a very interesting health talk delivered by Dato' Dr. Rajen M and Mr. Rajinder Singh on the holistic way of treating pain that is through the understanding of our body and with the control of our thinking faculty ie. "our mind".

We should consume "real food" and avoid "fake food" according to Dato' Dr. Rajen M. What are "real food" and what are the "fake food"? Alas !!!, you should all have been there !. Sorry, I am no "Doctor" nor "Nutritionist or Dietitian "and therefore unable to offer any recommendation except this, "do not eat junk food". And for those whom gets "aches" here and there, Mr. Rajinder Singh says listen to your body, do stretching, walking and even crawling as "crawling" is very good and you can do it on your bed but do let your wife or husband know what you are up to, if not they might call in the Vets. Of course the undersigned reminded Mr. Rajinder Singh the importance of "swimming" and for that he was "applauded". Not Bad huh !!! Receive "free talk" and also get "applauded". You guys should have been there, man !!! Heard Dato Dr. Rajen M was interested to get my story publish, waaah might even be in the press, not bad for a 3 hours sacrifice.

Ok, back to the subject. Was very happy to see the presents of our President Ln. Wesley Er, PDG Ln. Sam Leong, 1st VP Ln. Ken Jern, Ln. Chong Chin Teck, Ln. How Pak Kong and not to miss, 2nd VP Ln. Tony Yee whom later on brought those present to an underground cafe for "pisang balls" and "tea tarik". Oh, by the way, was told that DG Dato' Yeow Wah Chin did drop in with his lovely wife Datin Genevieve Yeow but as Ln. Chong and Ln. Tony Yee was also simultaneously having a meeting with the Leos of SMK Jinjang whom also attended the health talk at the same premises, must have missed our DG. Understand our President Wesley had invited a number of Lions from other clubs to attend and shall leave it to our President to do the needful thanks of appreciation of attendance for all whom were present. Would also like to take this opportunity to thank our PDG Sam Leong for proposing this very interesting health talk to our club members and for your information, the response from the public was overwhelming with lots of questions and sharing being put forth.

Mar 25, 2011 - Lions KL North Charity Golf 2011 was held at Kelab Rahman Putra, Sungai Buloh this morning 6.30am to 2.30pm. The event was graced by our Guest of Honour District Governor Dato Yeow Wah Chin together with his lef and hand hands men - 1st Vice District Governor Dr Ben C Ng and 2nd Vice District Governor Chan Hoi together with the fellow participants. The event was tee-ed off at 8am and went well and smoothly in the sunny morning.

After the morning golf session, the golfers were invited to the event's Buffet lunch at the Putra Court. They were welcome by our fellow members of KL North with Hot and Delicious Chinese style Buffet lunch. After settling down and lunch, presiding officer President Wesley started off with his speech followed by Guest of Honour District Governor Dato Yeow Wah Chin. The event went to the peak upon the anouncement of competition result and giving out Winner Trophies, Prizes and Lucky Draws. The event end around 2.30pm. The participants were enjoying their games, took home with them some Prizes and most importantly they did good deed in contributing toward raising funds for our Lions Eye Clinic, Lions Renal Center and project fund to help the needy.

Many thanks to the Organizing Chairman Ln Lee Yew Foo and his committee that includes President Wesley Er, PDG Raymond Tang, Ln Tan Teoh, Ln Ken Jern, Ln Terrence Fong, Ln James Andres, Ln Raymond Kwong, Ln Donald Lee, Ln Richard Ho and Ln Yap Gris Som. Lions in Action - ON THE FLOOD SITUATION IN THE SOUTH

News Flash 1:
District 308B1Governor Dato' Yeow conveyed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had complimented the Lions for its efforts in providing food, blankets, rations & water to the flood stricken victims in the Segamat area. He said this when the Prime Minister visited the relief centres at SRJK (C) Seg Hwa and was impressed that the Lions were distributing large amount of food and water etc.

DG Dato' Yeow met up with PDG Kg Kim Leng, RC7 Tai Teck Hock, Z16 Chairman Jeffrey Tan & DC Alert & Emergency Relief DC Lim Kim Poh and had analysed the situation in the flood stricken areas and have suggested that Lions donate cash relieve for the victims to help them get back on track on with their lives after the flood situation.

In their views, the flood victims are now provided with ample food rations, water and blankets etc. Relieve Centres have been set up and running effectively, but we as Lions should look into the aftermath of the floods.

A special flood relieve bank account will be opened and LC of Jementah is appointed to open a bank this account under the name of "District 308B1 Flood Relieve Fund" to dispense cash relieve to flood stricken area and victims. More information will be sent to all on the situation. PDG Ng Kim Leng is appointed coordinator for this floor relieve project and for the Segamat area.

Octber 23, 2010 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North celebrates its 38th Anniversary dinner today at the CIBO Italiano Restaurant, Holiday Villa, Subang Jaya. We are honored to have our Guest of Honor - District Governor Dato' Yeow Wah Ching and his spouse Datin Genevieve, IPDG Datuk Danny Ooi, 1st VDG Dr Ben C Ng, 2nd VDG Chan Hoi, PDGs, his Cabinet Officers, Visiting Sister Clubs from Lions Club of Kwun Tong, Hong Kong and Lions Club of Kuching North, other fellow Lions, Lionesses, Leos and friends of Lion joining us gracing this auspicious occasion. 4-in-1 Health Awareness Project at Hotel Sri Petaling

The Lions Club of KL North had on the 17th.Oct. 2010 (Sunday) organized a 4 in 1 Health Community Service Project at Sri Petaling Hotel for the residents of Seri Petaling and surrounding areas. The bright and shining sun brought cheers to the folks and as early as 9.00 am, residents were queing up for registration although the event only starts at 10 am - 4 pm. This health project can be touted as the most well prepared and organized 4 in 1 project by the LCKLN and special thanks should be accorded to the OC Ln. Richard Ho and his organizing team consisting of Ls. Chistina Er, FOL Kian Hung (bwl), RA of Seri Petaling VP Mr. Francis Foo, Mr. Connection 1st VP Ken Jern and the Anchorman 2nd VP Tony Yee. The response from the residents were great and the support given by the LCKLN's members was ever encouraging.

This event was graced by our Guest of Honor YB Teresa Kok (MP for Seputeh) with her good office, our PDG Ln. Sam Leong and wife Lady Molly Leong, PDG Ln. Raymond Tang and wife Lady Josephine (District Cabinet Treasurer), Regent Chairman Ln. Lim Chun Ngue with all the 25 LCKLN's members like DC James Andres, DC Lee Yew Foo, IPP Tan Teoh, Ln Teoh Lee Khoon, Ln Jimmy Yong, Ln Pun Eken, Ln Ben Sng, Ln Peter Lek, Ln Janette Pang, Ln How Pak Kong and many mores, Lioness, Leos, Friends of Lions and was well supported by the RA of Seri Petaling together with our sponsors Messrs. Best World Lifestyle Sdn. Bhd., Messrs. Grand Mulverest Events Corporation Sdn. Bhd. and Hotel Sri Petaling.

Residents were screened for Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Glucose Level and BMI by The National Kidney Foundation. Blood Donation was carried out by Pusat Darah Negara, whilst Eye Test was conducted by Messrs. Venice Optik Sdn. Bhd. and I-Optik Sdn. Bhd. together with the Lions Mobile Eye Test Unit. Organ Pledges were made by the residents for "The Gift Of Life" to human kindness. Coinside with the project was a short speech on organ pledge by organ donor and author of the book " I don't know you But let me save you" Ms. Chew Hoong Ling and a health talk conducted by the Founder of Messrs. Best World Lifestyle Sdn. Bhd. Dr. Doreen Tan on the topic " Lets eat right to keep FIT". The event concluded with great SUCCESS !!!. We managed to get 66 pax of Blood, 121 pax for health screening, 177 pax for Eye Screening and 34 pax for Organ Pledges.

Lions Club of Helsinki Tollo from Finland Visit

The Lions Club of KL North played host to the visiting Lions Club of Helsinki Tollo, Finland on the 15th Oct 2010 (Friday). OC Ln. Teoh Lee Kwon hosted a dinner at Siu Siu Restaurant at Taman Seputeh, Kuala Lumpur where the following Finn Lions and LCKLN's members were treated to a sumptuous dinner of German Pork Knuckle, Lemon Chilli Crab, Steamfish, Ginger Curry Chicken, Vegetables, Sticky Brown Rice with flowing Beers and finally Chinese Tea for cleansing. Food was very delicious and all had a hearty meal. The Finn Lions then presented their bannerites to our President Ln. Wesley Er, PDG Ln. Sam Leong, OC Ln. Teoh Lee Kwon and 2nd VP Ln. Tony Yee. Thanks to our host OC Ln. Teoh Lee Kwon who bought the dinner for all the Lions of that night.

On the 16th. Oct 2010 (Saturday), Ln. Karu and wife Lady Anita played host for dinner at The Manhattan Steak House Restaurant (wholly owned by Ln. Karu and partners) at Kelana Jaya, where the Lions were treated to a Western styled dinner consisting of Beef, Lamb and Chicken Steaks specially prepared by chef Daniel from Spain with flowing red wine and beers. Food was great and this chic place is run by Ln. Karu's daughter Evita. PDG Sam Leong, 1st VP Ln. Ken Jern and 2nd VP Ln. Tony Yee subsequently presented our Club's bannerites to the Finn Lions in reciprocation. All Lions are encourage to dine at this chic restaurant owned by Ln. Karu and managed by her daughter Evita. They serve Western and have quite a good selection of wines. A classy looking place. As they are still very new, their business card was still not ready when yours truly visited but you could get all information from our Ln. Teoh Lee Kwon whom have help to start up this restaurant for Ln. Karu. Could be our next place for our social.

Sept 26, 2010 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North organized a 4-in-1 Health Awareness project today at Dewan Serbaguna MPSJ, Seri Kembangan that includes Health & Diabetic Screening, Eye Checking, Blood Donation and Organ Pledge. The Organized Chairman (OC) Lion Jimmy Yong and his committee have worked closely with Wakil Parlimen of Serdang, YB Teo Nie Ching and Exco Kerajaan Selangor YB Ean Yong Hian Wah to promote this meaningful project. Our Press Release was publish in the Nanyang Daily and Sin Chew Daily. We got overwhelming turnout. The project was successfully completed with 124 Public registered for the Health & Diabetic screening, 110 Public for their eyes checking, 91 Public registered for the blood donation but only 80 bags of blood were collected for the Tabung Darah Negara and 12 Public pledged the organs. September 18, 2010 - Led by Organizing Chairman (OC) Jimmy Yong, the project team went to Pusat Perdagangan, Seri Kembangan, Serdang in conjunction with YB Teo Nie Ching and YB Ean Yong's celebrating the Mooncake Festival with the residents there, to promote our 4-in-1 Health Awareness Project to be held at "Dewan Serbaguna MPSJ, Jalan Besar, Seri Kembangan" on 26 September 2010.

The team consists of OC Jimmy Yong, 1st VP Ken Jern, IPP Tan Teoh, PP Lee Yew Foo & family, 2nd VP Tony Yee & 2 Leos, gathered at Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Resort at 6pm and heading to Serdang around 6.30pm. The 3 cars team reached the venue around 6.45pm and started distributing the project flyers. There were around 2000+ people attending the Mooncake festival. At no time, we finished distributing our flyers and we ended up at the famous Wah Tian Restaurant enjoying our dinner. The food was delicious and reasonably cost. Being a good host, we had an enjoyable 4-days trip from 6 to 9 August 2010 with very warm welcome and good hospitality from our brothers and sisters of Cebu Downtown. July 31, 2010 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has sent a group of delegates led by President Wesley visiting Lions Club of Gua Musang on their 28th Anniversary & Installation celebration today. Delegates include President Wesley Er, IPP Tan Teoh, 1st VP Ken Jern, PDG Leong A Sam, PDG Raymond Tang & Spouse, PP Lee Yew Foo & Spouse, and PP How Pak Kong arrived at Gua Musang in the afternoon for the favourate durian and tropical fruit party before checking into Impiana Inn hotel.

Leo Orientation at Goldhill Club, Bandar Manjalara, Kepong dated 24 July 2010

Hi Fellow Lions,

Today's Leo Orientation Program for our Leos was held successfully at GoldHill Club and grace by our Region 4 Region Chairman, Ln Lim Chun Nge. There were 40 Leos from our three Leo clubs i.e. Jinjang, Sultan Abdul Samad and KL Unity. They could not find it more enjoyable especially with our Speakers being so humerous in their delivery of their respective topics.

I can see that they really enjoy the whole program especially the good fellowship between the Leos and our Lions which ends with lunch.

Our grandfather of Leo, Ln Chong, as usual couldn't miss his Leos were also present to give his invaluable advice to his grandchildren.

Once again, thanks to all our Lions who have contributed your unselfish time and efforts to make this Orientation a great success. Special thanks must go to Ln Janette who have spent sleepless nights to compile all our topics materials. Cheers!

July 1, 2010 - New Board of Directors led by President Wesley for the Term 2010-2011 have come on board today with the first business meeting held at Banker's Club, Amoda, Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur. President Wesley has shared his 2010-2011 plan with the attendees and followed by the supporting execution plan by his COCs / OCs. Former Zone Chairman Lion Lee Yew Foo then presented the Club Secretary and Club Treasurer Excellent Award for 2009-2010 respectively to Lion Pun E Ken and PP Molly Leong followed by Service Gold Award to PP Vincent Hoh. IPP Tan Teoh later presented the Leo Advisor Service Award to our 3 Leo Advisors namely PP Chong Chin Teck, PP Ben Sng and Lion Nicholas Ching in appreciation to their service in nuturing our LEOs. June 30, 2010 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has again organized another Blood Donation & Organ Pledge Drive at Plastic Centre Sdn Bhd, Klang today. With the help of the Human Resource Manager, Mr Robert Yong, 44 of the willing staffs came to donate their blood. However, only 28 bags of blood were collected because some of these donors did not meet the requirements set by the Blood Bank. Apart from that, we managed to get 10 of the staffs to pledge their organ. The following are some of the photos taken during the project:

Many thanks to Mr. Robert Yong for helping to get the donors within their factory premise and of course our Organizing Chairman (OC) IPP Lee Yew Foo, President Tan Teoh and Lion Teoh Lee Kwon for successfully carrying out the project. We are happy with the result.

Well, this is our last project for our Term 2009-2010 which end today on 30 June 2010. Overall for the blood donation & organ pledge, we have exceeded our target of 200 bags and managed to collect a total of 310.67 bags of blood and also got 69 persons pledging their organ. According to the Statistics given by DC Vegent Pang on this subject, we recon that we have achieved at top 10 position for the blood donation effort and Number One position for the organ pledge. Region 4 Fellowship Nite at Baba Nyonya, Plaza Glomac, Kelana Jaya

June 25, 2010 - Region 4 Chairperson (RC) Tan Poh Ling hosted a fellowship dinner at her Baba Nyonya Restaurant, Plaza Glomac, Kelana Jaya around 7.30pm onward. It started with a MLM talk followed by the Lions fellowship proper. Many of us did not join in the MLM talk.

During the Lions Fellowship dinner around 8.30pm, RC Tan Poh Ling presented snapshots of the monthly Loving Sunday projects carried out throughout the term 2009-2010. She also recognized and presented the M1 award to Lion Gina of KL South. On behalf of KL North, President Tan Teoh then presented a gift to RC Tan Poh Ling. Blood Donation and Organ Pledge Campaign at The Mall, Jalan Putra, Kuala Lumpur

June 25, 2010 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has organized another Blood Donation and Organ Pledge Campaign today at The Mall, Jalan Putra, Kuala Lumpur. It was an encouraging Friday that there were more shoppers came in during lunch time and afternoon Friday prayers. Over 60+ potential blood donors came over to register, however we only managed to collect 32 bags of blood because of either the donor is underweight, on medication or not fulfilling conditions set by the blood bank. Without giving up we managed to get some of them to pledge their organ instead. We have got 19 of them pledged their organ. The following are some of the photos taken during the project:

Over all, we are satisfied with the result as we did better than the last few campaigns carried out by the Blood Bank there. We also get extra 19 persons pledging their organ. The Management, Metroplex Holding Sdn Bhd, is happy with our effort and would like us to arrange another campaign in 3 - 4 months time. Many thanks to OC Teoh Kah Yew and his staff for organizing and helping up the campaign from 10.30am to 5pm, and President Tan Teoh and IPP Lee Yew Foo for supporting the project whole day. The presence of President Elect Wesley, Ln Ken Jern, PP Raymond Kwong and Region Chairperson Tan Poh Ling during lunch time and Ln Tony Yee from 2pm to 4pm were encouraging but more KL North Lions members' participation would be much appreciated. Visiting Taman Megah Handicapped Children Home

June 19, 2010 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North visited Taman Megah Handicapped Children Home this morning at 10.30am to spend a couple of hours accompanying and playing with the children. Lions representing KL North namely OC James Andres, President Tan Teoh, IPP Lee Yew Foo, PP Raymond Kwong, PP Ben Sng, Ln Peter Lek, Ln William Ching, and a friend of Lions Miss Jocelyn Lee, were present at the Home. The project ended with a presentation of RM1,000 cheque being the cash donation from KL North and 2 boxes of Honey product from PP Donald Lee before we said goodbye to the children for lunch. District Appreciation & Award Night at Flamingo Hotel, Ampang

June 12, 2010 - Lions District 308 B1 has organized the District Appreciation & Award Night today at Flamingo Hotel, Ampang to celebrate and reward the achievement of what have been carried out during the fiscal term 2009-2010. The programme started with the Necrology Ceremony remembering our Lions who had passed away or Rest In Peace, e.g. Lion Chee Hin Nam of KL North, followed by recognition of our Senior Lions who are 70 years old and above, e.g. PP Tai Lung Khoon, PP Tony Chan and PP Chong Chin Teck of KL North for their long service with Lions.

The District Governor, Datuk Danny Ooi then presented the Lions watch to his cabinet officers such as KL North recipients: PDG Sam Leong, PDG Raymond Tang, IPP Lee Yew Foo and PP Donald Lee. The night continued with award presentation. KL North managed to get the Website Blog Award, Club Excellence Award, President Excellence Award, Secretary Excellence Award, Tresurer Excellence Award and Community Service Project Award. Blood Donation & Organ Pledge Campaign at Bangunan KWSP, Pudu

June 10, 2010 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has jointly organized a Blood Donation & Organ Pledge Campaign with UTS Marketing at Bangunan KWSP, Jalan Changkat Raja Chulan today. The project was successfully carried out with 101 potential donors came and we managed to collect 85 bags of blood and 15 donors pledged their organ.

Many thanks Mr Calvin Ng, the MD of UTS Marketing for taking up this meaningful joint project and his co-organizers Mr. Sunny Loke and Ms. Jascie for ensuring the flow of donors unbroken from 10am to 4.30pm getting them from various location such as Bangunan Ming's and Phileo Damansara's offices apart from Bangunan KWSP. The project could not take off without the support from Lion Tan Swee Lim, the Branch Head of KWSP for the strategic venue at ground floor. Thank you Lion Tan Swee Lim and his KWSP staffs for the support. Obviously, big thanks to all the donors for their noble action to save life with their blood and organs.

OC Lion Richard Ho has done an excellent job for initiating up to completing the said project with his project committee to ensure successful implementation. Job's well done. June 6, 2010 - Joint Installation of BODs Term 2010-2011 for clubs within Region 3 & 4 was held at Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Resort today at 7pm. There was over 35 dinner tables for the event. Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North sent a delegate team of over 20 people to celebrate with its newly installed Board of Directors for term 2010-2011. Broga Hill Hike with Leos

June 6, 2010 - Leo Club of KL Unity has organized a hiking trip to Broga Hill Semenyih with Leo Club of SMK Jinjang today accompanied by parent Lions club - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North. There was a total of 29 participants in this trip - 7 KL Unity Leos with 1 guest, 12 SMK Jinjang Leos, and 8 KL North Lions plus 1 friend of Lions. There were two gathering points - SMK Jinjang and SMK SAS respectively led by President Leo Tan Eong Xien and IPP Leo Chia Sheng Wei. All participants were to gather there at 5.30am and the teams respectively departed at 6am heading to Broga Hill Semenyih.

We arrived Semenyih town around 7am for breakfast before starting climbing the Broga Hill at around 7.50am. The hike took us around an hour for around 1.7km to reach the peak of Broga Hill at 400m height. There are beautiful scenaries and some challenging climb spots. We were lucky because there wasn't raining last night otherwise it would be very slippery. There were quite heavy crowd for narrow tracking path but all of us took our turn slowly. We should have started our journey earlier as we missed the sunrise. We could also extend our journey to higher peak, Tok Wan which is another 3.9km away. But we opted to go down as the delicious "Ikan Bakar" was waiting for us. The trip ended with at Restaurant Jati nearby for our early organic "Ikan Bakar" lunch before heading home. Kuching North 20th Anniversary Celebration, 22-23 May 2010

May 22, 2010 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has sent a group of delegates led by President Tan Teoh to attend its sister club: Lions Club of Kuching North on Kuching North's 20th anniversary celebration today. The delegates include our Kuching North Ambassador IPP Lee Yew Foo, President Tan Teoh, President Elect Wesley, PDG Sam Leong, PP Molly Leong, PP Ben Sng, 3rd VP Ken Jern and Lion Janette Pang.

IPP Irene Brodie and PP Jessie Voon came to airport to welcome us. They brought to taste the famous laksa and rojak in town before checked us in to 360 Hotel. The Anniversary Dinner Celebration was held at Kuching Club in the evening. The event was graced by Guest of Honor District Govenor Karen Koh. We must congratulate and thank the Presiding Officer President Alexander Lao and his team for the grand anniversary. We enjoyed ourselves very much with good fellowship, good food and entertainment.

Nex morning we carried out a joint project at Lions Nursing Home together with Kuching North accompanied by President Alexander Lao, IPP Irene Brodie, PDG Dr Voon, PP Jessie Voon and PP Albert Phua. KL North and Kuching North respectively donated RM1,000 each to the Lions Nursing Home for a new bed. We proceed for early lunch before visiting the museam. At lunch, we had great fellowship and also discussed about how to help the home to raise fund for the additional 30 beds and also jointly organized the water project in Kuching, social outing and Leos interaction. After the museam, we enjoyed our tea break with famous rojak, belacan meehoon and ABC at a hut nearby before heading to airport around 5pm.

Many thanks to Kuching North for their good hospitality especially to President Alex Lao, IPP Irene Brodie, PDG Dr William Voon and PP Jessie Voon. Much appreciated. We enjoyed our trip and look forward to welcome you at our 38th Anniversary this coming 23 Orctober 2010.

Health Screening at 3K, SS13/1 Subang Jaya Dated 15 May 2010

May 15, 2010 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has jointly organized a Health Screening project today at low-cost flats, SS13 with YB Hannah Yeoh of ADUN N.31 Subang Jaya being our Patron, to benefit the community over there. The Health Screening was kicked start by our OC Lion Tony Yee with his working team at 10am with the NKF Mobile Coach stationed at the 3K carpark area near A&W Outlet, ss13/1 Subang Jaya. The working committee came as early as 8.30am to setup the project site and to promote and distribute more flyers to community nearby.

Representatives from YB Hannah namely her Political Secretary Mr Edward Ling, her Special Assistants Mr. Timothy and Mr. Reuben came over to support us and also inviting the Press from Sinar Harian, Journalist Mr. Nur Farhan Abd Manan for a short interview with us on the said community project. The project has successfully completed at 4.30pm with as total of 82 persons were being screened.

Many thanks to the OC Tony Yee and his team namely President Tan Teoh, PP Ben Sng, IPP YF Lee, PP Donald Lee, Incoming President Wesley Er, Lion Ken Jern, PP How Pak Kong, Lion Richard Ho, Lion Janette Pang, and PP James Andres for the job well done. 48th MD308 Lions Convention, Singapore

May 2, 2010 - 48th MD308 Lions Convention was held at Suntec Singapore from 30 April 2010 to 2 May 2010. Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has sent a total of 14 delegates to the convention namely President Tan Teoh, President Elect Wesley Er, IPP Lee Yew Foo, PP Donald Lee, PP Ben Sng, 3rd VP Ken Jern, Lion Yap Gris Som, PDG Sam Leong, PP Molly Leong, PDG Raymond Tang, Lion Teoh Kah Yew, Lion Jimmy Yong, Lion Lim Chin Wee and Lion Janette Pang.

During the convention, the 8 resolutions presented by the District were debated and voted. 7 out of 8 resolutions were passed except the 1st resolution: The Bifocation exercise. On the other hand, Lion Dato' Yeow Wah Chin is re-elected as the District Governor and Lion Dr Ben C Ng is re-elected as 1st Vice District Governor for term 2010-2011. Lion Chan Hoi is elected as 2nd Vice District Governor 2010-2011 defeating Lion Alan Yoong.

Gotong Royong at The Community Service Centre of the Deaf Dated 17 April 2010

April 17, 2010 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North (KL North) has led and organized a joint Gotong Royong Loving Saturday Project with 11 Lions Clubs and 3 Leo Clubs at the Community Service Centre of The Deaf (CSCD), Lorong Ampang Kuala Lumpur today from 8.30am to 3.00pm. The scope of work includes clearing up the undergrowth on the slope, landscaping, cleaning up the firsh pond & install netting, clearing up the drainage system & prevent floods, electrical works & repair roof leaks, repairing tables & chairs, cleaning up the toilets, and other activities such as preparing foods for lunch, decoration and photoshoting.

The project was successfully carried out by over 55 members team respectively from Lions Club of KL North, KL South, KL Host, KL Mega City, KL Pudu, KL Bukit Kiara, Ampang, KL City, KL Metropolitan, Damansara KL and KL Titiwangsa; from Leo Club of KL Unity, SMK Jinjang and Damansara KL; as well as students from CSCD. A Big Thank to all of you for carrying up this very challenging mission together. We have make a difference. Students of CSCD can have better study environment there.

Special thanks must be given to Organizing Chairman Wesley Er, Organizing Leader Tony Yee, Lion Gina Kuek, friend of Lions Mr Johnny, Ms Cindy & Ms Rose and working committee to make this project a success. We honored to have our hardworking Leos, students of CSCD and Lions who came forward for the project. Without our Region 4 Chairperson Tan Poh Ling, Zone 11 Chairman Lee Yew Foo, Zone 10 Chairman Lim Meng Sheng, Zone 9 Chairperson Uma, Zone 8 Chairman Kenny Low and respective Club Presidents, we would not have got over 55 participants. Also, our hardworks and actions have been captured by our dedicated protographer President Kok, PP Donald Lee and friend of Lions Karen Poon for fond memory. Many thank to all of you and job's well done.

Many thanks to the student of CSCD for presenting us the appreciation cards. That are meaningful and priceless. Also aknowledgement must be given to the clubs/members who contributed in cash and in kind for the project. Thanks to DC Leon Thong of KL Host for contributing RM1,200 for the 1st 6 months of the centre rental fee and Lions Club of Damansara KL for contributing RM1,200 for the 2nd 6 months of the centre rental fee.

Lions KL North Charity Golf at Kajang Hill Golf & Country Club Dated 8 April 2010

April 8, 2010 - Lions KL North Charity Golf was held at Kajang Hill Golf & Country Club this morning from 6.45am to 2.30pm. The event was graced by the Guest of Honour 1st Vice District Governor Dato' Yeow Wah Chin together with 47 golf participants, teeing off at 8.10am. The tournament was based on System 36 (modified), short guns. With a comfortable 12 flights, the tournament took around 5 hours to complete. The event was successfully completed with a buffet lunch at the club house restaurant, and giving out Winner Trophies, Prizes and Lucky Draws.

Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North would like to thank Dato' Yeow and the 47 golf participants for gracing this event. The project couldn't have kicked-off without their participation. We hope they enjoyed their game with us at Kajang Hill Golf & Country Club.

Also, we would like to thank our sponsors for their sponsorship in cash or in kind for this event. Without them, we could not have raised about RM15 thousands. All the proceeds shall be used to serve and benefit the needy community. The club will determine and ensure the proceeds are given to deserving recipients.

Credit must also be given to the organizing chairman Lion Tai Lung Khoon and his committee for their hard work and dedication to ensure the project is successful carried out. We must congratulate and thank all of you for your job's well done. Also, we would like to thank those members and friends of Lions who came forward to help up to make this a success.

Applying 7 Habits Workshop at Genting INTI International College Dated 27 Mar 2010

Mar 27, 2010 - It is a great pleasure to report that we had successfully delivered the "Applying 7 Habits" Workshop for Genting INTI International College (GIIC) in Gohtong Jaya from 9am to 6pm today. We also had wonderful time for our club social BBQ cum Campfire at GIIC immediately after the workshop. I would like to thank all the facilitators - PDG Sam Leong, President Ln Tan Teoh, Ln Ben Sng, Ln Tony Yee, Ln Isaac KP Ng, Ln Navin Khandhar, and Ln Donald Lee for their commitment and sacrifices for many weeks of preparation for this workshop during our trial run in T.O.C. Without their contribution, this workshop would not be possible. Lastly, I would like to thank our Ln Nicholas Ching for hosting us in GIIC for the workshop and our club social - reported by OC Ln Wesley Er

CNY Luncheon 2010 at Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Club Dated 28 Feb 2010

Feb 28, 2010 - 22 Lions Clubs within Region 3 & 4 including Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North (KL North) have jointly organized a Chinese New Year Luncheon with less privileged old folks and orphans in Klang Valley today in conjunction with Chinese New Year Celebration. The venue was at Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Resort, from 11am to 3pm. A total of 54 tables were allocated for the luncheon.

The project working committees including KL North President Tan Teoh as the project treasurer, was working very hard to ensure it is successfully organized. We managed to achieve over RM180 thousand in term of project value through seeking out more sponsorship. These benefited over 20 old folks homes and orphanages where 320 attended the luncheon sponsored by us. They were also given Ang Pow in conjunction with Chinese New Year plus goodie bags worth over RM150 per bag. Most importantly, they were accompanied by 220 Lions and friends of Lions celebrating this auspiscious event.

Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North at its capacity has sponsored 1 table to the House of Victory Elderly home inmates. 10 of them were accompanied by 20 KL North Lions. We mingled around with them and other elderly inmates and orphans from other homes giving them a little joy and happiness through this event.

Fellowship Dinner with District 333-C Lions & Leos, Japan Dated 6 Feb 2010

Feb 6, 2010 - LCI District 333-C Lions and Leos have invited Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North and its Leo Clubs to join their fellowship dinner today at Marco Polo Restaurant, Kuala Lumpur in conjunction with their Leo Spring Training in Malaysia.

20 of our delegates including 5 of our Lions namely President Tan Teoh, Omega Leo Advisor Ln Nicholas Ching, Alfa Leo Advisor PP Chong Chin Teck, Alfa Leo Advisor PP Ben Sng, and DC Youth Exchange Ln Alan Yoong, and 15 of our Leos lead by President Leo Tan Eon Xien, President Leo Tham Yok Wah and President Leo Adrian Andre Pereira respectively from our Leo Club of KL Unity, SMK Jinjang and SMK Sultan Abdul Samad attended the said fellowship dinner.

We are very honored to have met the 2nd Vice District Governor Lion Kazuo Kanai of District 333-C, Japan and President Leo Taketo Hiiro, together with their 25 Japanese delegates from 18 different Lions/Leos Clubs. Apart from great fellowship and friendship, we exchanged knowledge and ideas for Leos recruitments and membership growth. Our Leos have also performed some entertainments and shared some local delights with our Japanese counterparts. Apart from exchanging bannerattes, 2nd VDG Lion Kazuo Kanai also presented a token of Yen 20,000 being the cash donation to KL North project fund, received by President Tan Teoh. Blood Donation Drive at Menara ING dated 5 Feb 2010

Feb 5, 2010 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North and ING Insurance Berhad have jointly organized a blood donation campaign at Menara ING to raise blood for our Tabung Darah Negara (Blood Bank). We have got 83 registered donors but 13 were rejected and 2 didn't turnout. A total of 68 bags of blood were collected.

MANY THANKS to ING Insurance Berhad for promoting the event and our Organizing Chairman, PP How Pak Kong and the participating Lions including President Tan Teoh, PP Donald Lee, PP Raymond Kwong, PP Ben Sng, Ln William Ching, Ln Richard Ho, Ln Teoh Kah Yew, and PP KP Ng for making the event successful. Leprosy Project at Sungai Buloh Dated 30 Jan 2010

Jan 30, 2010 - Region 3 & 4 has organized the Sungai Buloh Leprosarium Visit (the world oldest leprosy centre/hospital - a community of people with leprosy) today. The visit is an annual joint project organized by Lions clubs in Region 3 & 4 and this year it is lead and organized by Region 3 Zone Chairman Eric Lee as our Loving Sunday project. The objective is to bring some joys to the patients there through our interaction and entertainment inconjunction with the coming Chinese New Year. It is indeed a very meaningful project and has been organized yearly since Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North started it many years ago.

Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has sent a team of 42 including President Tan Teoh, OC Wesley Er, PP Donald Lee, PP Raymond Kwong, Ln Yap Gris Som, PP Ben Sng, PDG Sam Leong, PDG Raymond Tang, PP Chong Chin Teck, 28 SMK Jinjang Leos lead by President Yuki and her faculty advisors - Ms. Low & Ms. Wong, and 3 KL Unity Leos lead by President Tan Eong Xien. The project started at 9 am at the Leprosy Centre Hall with various entertainment by Lions and Leos for the inmates followed by Choi San Ye distributing Oranges. We later proceed to visit the patients at the wards.

Our big delegates were divided into smaller groups visiting a few wards as well as helping up at the hall. We took charge for Female Ward 49 and supported KL South with our Leos at Ward 48. At the Ward, we entertained the patients at the wards by chit chating to them, entertaining them with Chinese New Year Songs and present them with Ang Pows, Mandarin Oranges and Goodie bags. The project went well and successful. Many thanks to Zone Chairman Eric Lee and his committee for organising the project. We must also thank our OC Wesley for the coordination and PP Donald for his professional photograhy. Most importantly, our BIG delegates: Thank all of you - give yourselves a pad on your back. You have brought joys and happiness to the inmates there. I can see from their eyes while having conversation with them. My fellow Lions and Leos, we don't have to wait for another year - Do visit them whenever we can...

Blood Donation, Organ Pledge and Health Screening at HELP University dated 13 Jan 2010

Jan 13, 2010 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has carried out Blood Donation campaign, Organ Pledge and Health Screening Programme at HELP University College, Pusat Bandar Damansara, Kuala Lumpur from 9.00am to 4.00pm today. Many thanks to Commander Anthony from the HELP's Student Affairs for his effort to provide the venue and promote the said project. The project could not be completed without our partners from Tabung Darah Negara and National Kidney Foundation; As well as the participating HELP students, staff and general public who came over to donate their bloods, pledge their organs for the needy. Visiting Paediatric Ward, Institut Jantung Negara Dated 19 Dec 2009

Dec 19, 2009 - Together with 10 other Lions Clubs, Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has participated in the Region 4 Loving Sunday Project: Visiting Paediatric Ward, Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) at Wad Mewar, 5th Floor organized by our Region Chairperson Tan Poh Ling, today from 2pm to 4pm to bring some Christmas joys to about 50 children patients there.

We, altogether 12 persons namely President Tan Teoh, PP James Andres (the Santa Claus), Lion Wesley ER, Lion Kok Vidang, Lion Yap Gris Som, Lion Teoh Lee Kwon, Lion Lance Cheah, PP Chong Chin Teck and his 4 Leos - Leo Wong Yi Shan, Leo Mah Wai Leng, Leo Lai Jun How and Leo Ho Ying Wah, representing Kuala Lumpur North for this project. We participated in entertaining the children patients with various dances, Christmas songs, Clown and Magic show. The project was successfully carried out. Enzyme Talk at Seri Setia, Sg Way Dated 13 Dec 2009

Dec 13, 2009 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has organized an Enzyme Talk today from 10am -12pm to teach the local community at Sungai Way, how to make use of fruit waste to create environmental friendly enzyme for general cleaning use. The talk also brings awareness to the global warmings and suggests steps to reduce wastage, encourage recycling and energy saving. The following are some of the photos taken during the project:

Dec 5, 2009 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has organized the Lions Seven Habits Workshop from 9am to 5pm today for the Otomotif College (TOC) in appreciation of their generiousity of letting the club used their classroom facility for the KL Unity Leo program and some meetings. The workshop was to facilitate in the understanding and application of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People written by Stephen Covey. Visiting Birla Orphanage, Hanoi Dated 28 Nov 2009

Nov 28, 2009 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has organized an International Charity project - Visiting Birla Orphanage Home in No.4, Doan Ke Thien Street, Mai Dich Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi today, 28 Nov (Sat) from 8.45am to 11.20am. Delegates consist of President Tan Teoh, PDG Raymond Tang, OC Ln Ken Jern, Ln Kok Wee Tian, Ln Pun E Ken, Ln Teoh Kah Yew, PP Simon Soh, Ln Dato' Robert Lim, Ln Gina Kuek, and Leo Hai Anh, together with Professor Do, ISVNU Youth Union Students (22 members) and a group of Malaysian & Vietnamese friends in Hanoi visited the orphanage.

A total of US$1,544.77 was raised for the home contributed by our club, our club members, Leo Club of KL Unity, Buddhist Association in Puchong and Professor Do. The donation was used to buy 98 sets of winter clothing, rice, cooking oil, seasoning powder, and Chinese New Year Money for the orphans. Besides that, some members also donated color pencils, mechanical pens and some cash on the day of visit as well. During the visit, we spent some times with the orphans having some activities like playing games, singing songs and dancing with them, and visiting their quarters. The project was carried out well and successful. Health Sreening Project at Lembah Subang Dated 22 Nov 2009

Nov 22, 2009 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North and Pfizer Malaysia have jointly organized a Health Screening project at Dewan Block C, Taman Putra Damai, Lembah Subang, Jalan PJU 1A/42, 43100 Petaling Jaya today from 9 am - 3 pm in conjunction with gotong royong activity carried out by the Residence Committee and MBPJ. Our health screening project was done well and quite successful with a total of 280 adults and 176 children came forward for the screening. Initial Health screening has shown that the residence are unaware of their health condition. It is quite alarming to see significant numbers of them were tested with high blood pressure, obesity and diabeties. More health screening and health awareness programmes are required to be carried out to help these over 6000 families communities there.

Pfizer came with 8 persons team leaded by Lee Lip Fong focusing on the screening and consultation while KL North represented by President T.C. Tan Teoh, IPP YF Lee, PP James Andres, Lion Peter Lek, PP Ben Sng, PDG Sam Leong, PP Chong Chin Teck and 3 of our Jinjang Leos assisted in getting the people, doing registration, and measuring height and weight of the people. A BIG THANK to our project partner Pfizer - Ms. Lip Fong and her team, and of course our fellow members and Leos who were there for job's well done.

The residence committee President En Badaruddin, also expressed his gratitude and thank to Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North and Pfizer Malaysia for the said community service project. He already requested for another health screening, health talks and blood donation compaign for his community there very soon.

Oct 24 - Over 20 Lions clubs, Leos, delegates all the way from Hanoi Vietnam, and distinguished guests attended our club 37th Anniversary Dinner Celebration at Melia Hotel, Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur last Saturday. It was indeed our great honor to have all of you there with us celebrating our 37th Anniversary. The celebration was delighted with the presence of our Guest of Honor, District Governor Datuk Danny Ooi, who was rushing back from Thailand, and of course our 1st Vice District Governor, Datuk Yeow Wah Chin, Past District Governors and District Cabinet officers.

We sincerely thank and appreciate your presence at our 37th Anniversary. We hope our little function with our in-house performance, would bring you some laughers and joy, great fellowships, and have a good time. Please do accept our apology if there were any shortcomings. Lions International Peace Poster Contest - 24 Oct 2009

Oct 24 - Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has organized the Lions International Peace Poster Contest at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Sungai Way today to encourage young people (age 11-13) to artistically express their Visions of Peace trhough Arts and the spreading of Peace and International Understanding among the Young Generation. A total of seven (7) schools namely, SJK (C) Sungai Way, SK Kampung Tunku, SJK (C) Puay Chai, SJK (C) Puay Chai 2, SJK (C) Lai Chee, SJK (C) Salak South, and SMJK Yu Chai Kajang, have sent their representatives for the contest.

The contest started at 9am for 3 hours. There were 20 qualitied contestants competing for the 3 grand prizes of RM100, RM50 and RM30 with trophies, and 10 consolation prizes. Miss Yap Shek Li, age 12, from SJK (C) Salak South, is the champion. Miss Yap's artwork will be sent for judging at our District level at Nov 8, 2009 at IOI Mall. Buka Puasa with 50 Orphans at Decanter, Damansara Height

September 13 - Buka Puasa with underprivileged children from Persatuan Ehsan Wanita & Anak-Anak Kuala Lumpur was organized as a joint Loving Sunday project among Region 4 Lions Clubs, leaded by Region 4 Chairperson Lion Tan Poh Ling. The venue was at Decanter, Damansara Height and there was a total of 50 underprivileged children benefited from the project. Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North has 6 representatives namely President Tan Teoh, Zone Chairman YF Lee, Secretary Pun E Ken, 2VP Lee Ching & his guest Evon, and Lion Gris Som. We had a good time with those children and also a big thank to Miss Evon for donating 26 school bags specially designed to support children back problems to the children. September 11 - Under the Lions-EASB Scholarship programme, first 25 academically outstanding students were selected for under-graduate studies in Singapores East Asia Institute of Management (EASB) at the Queen Margaret University or university of Wales Institute Cardiffs Asia Campuses. The successful scholars and their parents were invited for a simple gathering on 11 September, 2009, 10.30am, venue at the Lions Headquarter, No 25-1, Jalan Tanjung SD13/2, Bandar Sri Damansara, 52200 Kuala Lumpur for a briefing session to prepare them for their learning experience in Singapore.

The Organizing Chairperson of the LIONS-EASB Scholarship project, Lion Vincent Hoh commenced by welcoming the successful applicants and congratulating them for being selected and provided useful information for their trip down south to begin their studies that will start on 5th October 2009. There will also be an orientation session for the successful scholars on 2nd October at EASB, Singapore.

Past District Governor Lion Leong A Sam was also on hand to provide encourgement and motivation for the scholars to prepare them for their studies in Singapore. He highlighted the high quality of the education and challenges in a very competitive Singapore and global environment, and the great opportunities available to them upon graduation.

President Lion T.C. Tan Teoh presented certificate of Attendance to the scholars then. The ceremony ended at around 12.00pm with some light refreshments. The following are some of the snapshots:

KL Bird Park Visit with 37 Orphans

August 23 - A group of 24 participants from Lions Club of KL North that included 7 KL North Lions, 4 SMK Jinjang Leos, 1 SMS SAS Leo, 12 family members and guest presenced in a joint Loving Sunday Project by KL North, KL South, KL Host and Tropicana KL.

Together with other club members we accompanied and sponsored a total of 37 orphans with 5 of their caretakers to visit the KL Bird Park. 18 children, 12 children and 7 children were respectively from Rumah Charis, Philea Home and Rumah Anak Gembira. The visit was from 9am to 1pm. Goodie bags worth RM12 each were given to the 37 orphans. Apart from the 4 Lions Clubs' contribution, we must thank to those individual donors especially from KL North - Advisor & Past President Lion Tony Chan and our guest Mr & Mrs Yau.

House of Victory Elderly Home Visit

July 26, 2009 - Lions Club of KL North has lead a group of 22 Lions, 8 Leos and 8 friends of Lion visiting the House of Victory Elderly Home at No.1 Jalan Pisang, Batu 3 1/2, Off Jalan Kelang Lama, 58100 Kuala Lumpur as the 1st Loving Sunday Project for Zone 11. The participants were from Lions Club of KL North, KL Host and KL South.

The objective of our visit is to spend our time sharing some joys and happiness with the elderly there. We lend our ear listening to them, had some activities like singing, story telling, and celebrating 2 of the elderly birthday and had lunch with them. In addition, we have bought some daily needs such as Diapers for Adult, Body Lotion, Surgical Gloves, Masks, Rice, Milo, Coffee, Clorox and some cash donation. On that day, we have also identified 4 elderly that need to have their eye vision checked. Arrangement was made with our Lions Eye Clinic for the check-up.

Overall, we have achieved our objective of bringing some joys and happiness to the 24 inmates at the House of Victory Elderly Home in this loving sunday project.

Blood Donation at Plastic Centre Sdn Bhd Klang Dated 25 June 2009

June 25, 2009 - The blood donation drive was carried out with the Pusat Darah Negara Mobile unit (PDN)at our Lion Raymond Sng's factory - Plastic Centre Sdn Bhd, Klang. It started at around 9.30am and successfully ended at 3.30pm. A total of 42 bags of Blood were collected. 49 intended donors were registered but only 42 were accepted.

A big thank to Lion Raymond Sng and the Management of Plastic Centre for allowing us to carry out the project there and sponsoring 30 KFC Meal Vouchers to the blood donors. Apart from that, we must also thank our President Lion Eric Lee from Lions Club of Taman Tun for sponsoring 5 ctn of Ginseng Drink for the project. Also not forgeting the support and participation from President Lee, Lion Tan Teoh, our Leo Wei Keat and Leo Hai Anh, Dr. Hemah and her staff from PDN, Mr Robert Yong and his staff from Plastic Centre.

Lastly, we must thank our OC Lion Molly and her team for the job well done.

40th Anniversary Lions Club of Kwun Tong, Hong Kong

On 20 June 2009, our club have a delegation of 14 person (9 Lions and their spouse) who flew off to Hong Kong on a visitation to our sister club , The Lions Club of Kwun Tong, in conjunction with their 40th Anniversary. The team consists of IPDG Raymond Tang and Ln Josephine Quan, PDG Leong A Sam and Ln Molly Leong, Ln Nicholas and Cynthia, Ln Tony Yee and Samantha, Ln Tan Teoh, Ln Ken Jern, Ln Vidang and President Lee Yew Foo and his spouse. Our group stayed in Hong Kong for three nights and returned to Kuala Lumpur on 23 June 2009.
We have a very enjoyable, memorable and ‘funtastic’ trip there despite the big scare of H1N1 in Hong Kong. There were plenty of fellowship and singing with the Hong Kong Lions and besides that we also have the opportunity to meet Lions from Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan who were there for this Anniversary Celebrations as well. For those who have to miss this trip due to any reason, we hope that you will not miss the next one with our sister club whenever one is organized. The warmth and the kind hospitality shown to us are hard to describe in a few words but I can say that it will be difficult (not impossible with a little bit of hard work) to emulate them. I am sure our members will be able to rise to the occasion in showing our Malaysian warmth whenever our sister club members are in town. It is my hope that with such trips both our club and its members can forge ahead a closer relationship in the many years to come. Lion EASB Scholarship Presentation To SJBA and Brickfield Buddhist Youth

Jan 18, 2009 - Lion EASB Scholarship committee gathered at the Subang Jaya Buddhist Association (SJBA) around 10.30am to get ready for its 10.45am scholarship presentation. Thanks to SJBA President Brother Chim for arranging the slot for us to present the Lion EASB scholarship program to his fellow members and buddhist devotees.

The presentation started promptly at 10.45am and it took about 30 minutes with Q&A session. It went well with over 40 attendants mostly parents, and we got quite a number of enquiries.

After SJBA, the Organizing Chairperson Lion Vincent Hoh, Lion Ben Sng and Lion Tan Teoh took extra mile and proceed to carry out another presentation at Brickfield Buddhist Temple. We have to excuse Lion Lee Ching as he got prior appointment. Three of us left Subang Jaya after lunch to meet Lion Jowynne Khor at the temple at 1.30pm. Thanks to Lion Jowynne for her arrangement and we had presented at 2pm to about 50 Brickfield Buddhist Youth.

The organizing chairperson and his committee have shown great teamwork. The presentation sessions were successfully carried out. Job well done.

Charity Food & Funfair '09 at Tmn Bandar, SS2, PJ

Jan 4, 2009 - Lions Club of KL North jointly organized a Charity Food & Funfair project with its sponsored Omega Leo Club of KL Unity on Jan 4, 2009 from 7am to 1pm, venue at Taman Bandar SS2 PJ, to raise its project funds to help the needy. The project was also assisted by its two other sponsored Alpha Leo Clubs namely SAS Leos and Jinjang Leos. We have variety of foods and drinks as well as games for the event. In addition, we also carried out free health screening and free bone density check respectively with the National Kidney Foundation Malaysia and the ALTERNI for the public.

The project was officiated and supported by our YB Dr. Cheah Wing Yin, the State Assemblyman of ADUN Damansara Utara. YB Dr Cheah visited the stalls and the mobile health screening coach as well as mingling around to understand more about our Lions activities.

Overall, the project has got overwhelming support and we have raised over RM13 thousand but the actual amount is yet to be finalized and confirmed. Thanks to the Organizing Chairpersons - Lion Raymond Kwong and Leo Sam Tan as well as the working committee for making this project a success. Job well done.

Free Health Screening at Sg Way

Dec 18, 2008 - Lions Club of KL North organized a Free Health Screening project with the National Kidney Foundation, Malaysia and the Association of Kampung Baru Sungai Way to provide free health screening to the community in Kampung Baru, Sungai Way. The project was held on Dec 18, 2008 from 9.30am to 3.oopm, venue at Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Baru Sungai Way.

It has got overwhelming response and we managed to proivde free screening to 108 people at the area, which we overshot our initial target of 80 people capacity a day. The residence association was asked to plan for another session soon. Congratulation to the Organizing Chairperson, Lion Peter Lek and his working committee for the excellent job.

We are honored to have our Honorary Lion Tan Yap, “The Father of Deaf” as the trainer for the 2-days Sign Language Course: “Come, let your hands do the talking”, to be held on 17 & 18 May 2008 (10am - 4pm) at the Goldhill Club, Bandar Manjalala, KL. We only charge a nominal fee of RM30 per participant for the 2-days course and it is open to all Lions, Lionesses, Leos and friends.
